The cover bears a sticker saying 'ambient - glitch - experimental electronic music', which is very much true. (...) The music pieces by themselves are pretty different from eachother, all however with certain limits of course - as outlined on the sticker. This makes this quite an enjoyable release..." His influences include Joseph Beuys, Marcel DuChamp and Marc Rothko. www.tamea.org | www.virb.com/marktamea Selectone [CZ] Selectone was set up in 2004 by David Rambousek, a musician from the Czech Republic and the founder of Ressonus Records. His compositions have a clear-cut experimental agenda, that retain a musical intensity and emotion, an amalgamation of detailed sound design taking on various music styles, from electronic music and experimental to cinematic, classical, minimal, avant-garde and dance music. Engaging in contemporary fields of composition, he creates the sense of contrast between the experimentalist scene and musical simplicity, stretching creativity and multiplicity in the production development. He studied in Brighton, graduating in Digital Music, having specialised in sound production and composition; also studied classical music from 1986 to 1999, with the piano being his main instrument and Electronic Music back on 1996. Nowadays he works as a lecturer in Music Technology & Sound Engineering and as a freelance composer and producer. Involved in the electroacoustic medium, becomes member of HELMCA (Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association), while working under the name "emdy". His music-works, for the last ten years, have been presented live through performances, installations and tape audio representations. www.myspace.com/akemdy Landschaft [UK] Landschaft is about re-discovery, re-birth, resurgence. That marvellous Latin word Resurgam; "I shall rise again". It is about probing moods evoked by remembrance and experience where past histories are forgotten and maps are burned. Bones, ghosts and fragments of barbed wire are the only reminders of conflicts past. The flatlands of Northern Europe, scorched by conflict, destroyed, reborn, and destroyed again. A demolished City where wildflowers silently grow, cities renamed, reborn and renamed again. In the Landschaft, unbroken miles of conifer, 10,000 lakes where voices and music sink slowly to the lake floor. Where legends born of optimism and fear promise rescue and a reversal of misfortune. But in the borders, no one remembers and all that remains is dust. In distilling these mood feelings down, the listener adds in his or her own perceptions to generate a synergy - where one's own experience is added to one's perception of history to form a whole greater than the sum of the parts. The ode to joy or a prayer to the souls of the departed. www.landschaft.co.uk | www.virb.com/landschaft Stuzha [RU] Stuzha ("severe cold" in Russian) is a new project by _Algol_ founded in 2007. The project is based on field recordings in Siberian landscapes with acoustic, electric guitars & other live instruments. "Here is No Life Without a Fire" (from the first EP "Through the Snowfield") was recorded in the Siberian taiga forest during the frozen winternight time, when the temperature is below -25 °C. This piece shows that a man's life, in this environment is absolutely dependent upon the heat given by fire. A fire gives to a man a hope to survive, without it he's dead in few hours... It's a hymn to fire. www.myspace.com/stuzha Gurun Gurun [CZ] Gurun Gurun is a semi-improvisational AV project formed in the autumn 2007 by guitarist Tomás Knoflícek (Miou Miou), keyboardist Jára Tarnovski (Miou Miou) and VJ Vunelopuchu (BabyPuch, Kolektiv). GG's musical work combines guitar, analogue synthesizers, drum machine and digital effects to span musical spaces ranging from hypno-minimalist atmospheres to warm tones of slow moving, repetitive melodic stanzas. Visuals are also produced based on sampling shots (from old school Slovak sci-fi TV series "She Came Out of the Blue Sky") are combined with a simple flash animations. www.myspace.com/gurunas |
